Tough times for Highland cattle
HIGHLAND cattle breeders were faced with a tough market at their annual autumn sale in Oban yesterday, reports The Herald.
Foreign interest was deterred by the ban on live exports and domestic enthusiasm was blunted by the hangover from last year which saw many buyers facing losses
One source quoted says there was a surplus of stock chasing buyers with breeders dealing mainly among themselves.
The top price paid of 3600gns (£3780) was for a three-year-old home-bred in-calf heifer.
