Tourists prefer traditional farms
TOURISTS taking bed and breakfast breaks on farms say the traditional elements of agriculture are the most important reason for their visit, according to a survey.
The proximity of farm livestock came top of list of priorities in the survey, which quizzed 1000 people using farmhouse accommodation.
Farm visitors also wanted to experience “real” countryside, complete with the smells of manure and muddy fields and tracks.
The Farm Tourism 2000 survey was sponsored by the European Union, the Ministry of Agriculture and the West Country Tourist Board.
