Triple mower churns it out
CHURNING out grass on the Kverneland plot was the companys latest Taarup 5090 Butterfly triple mower.
Sporting a 9m cutting width, Kverneland claims the outfit can mow 10ha/hour (23 acres/hour).
Up front, the combination employs a 3m 3528 mower conditioner, with two 3032 mounted units running at the rear.
Armed with a BX Swath Grouper, the 5090 is designed to put 9m of grass into a single swath.
The 5090 can also be set up to distribute 6m of grass into one swath or produce three narrow or wide swaths using built-in spreading hoods.
Requiring 210hp to operate – the grouper adds an extra 10hp – the two rear mowers are supported by a hydraulically folding frame.
For control, the 5090 comes with an in-cab box to operate the rear mowers and buttons to control the front mower and swather.
To improve manoeuvrability, all three mowers can be lifted to 15í for headland turns. The rear mowers can also be raised independently to the same angle to avoid field obstacles, and full vertical folding is available for transport.
Cost of the 5090 Butterfly with BX Swather attachment is £41,950. *
