Trouble-free at the mill…

A NEW code of practice for mill intake aims to improve relations between growers and millers.

The NABIM Intake Guide, contained in this issue of Farmers Weekly, explains what millers want, the tests they conduct and why they are done. It also offers a recommended procedure for dealing with disputes.

"The aim is to smooth out areas that need smoothing out and explain why we do the tests we do and how we go about them," says Richard Butler of RHM. "More is being asked of us by our customers and we hope this tells farmers why we are asking more of them."

The guide builds on an internal code developed by the National Association of British and Irish Millers and UKASTA, this time promoting it to growers too.
