Two in a row for Perrinpit

THE Perrinpit flock of Glos breeders Roger and Michael Weaver has again taken the male championship at the Suffolk Sheep Societys Western Area fixture at Abergavenny for the second year running.

Their winner, by Glenho Galaxy out of a ewe by the 20,000gns Muiresk McLaren, led the untrimmed class and went on to make 800gns to R and L M Western who run the Abernant flock at Cathedine, Powys.

Auctioneers J Straker Chadwick and Sons took two other 800gns bids which came for an untrimmed lamb from J &#42 Farr and Son, Pontrilas, and an untrimmed entry from the Rhaeadr flock of North Wales breeder M A Evans. The 87 ram lambs averaged £328 with nine shearling rams at £368.

A new evening Suffolk fixture at Borderway mart saw Muiresk lambs from top Scottish breeders S G Mair and Sons head the list at 1400gns with an entry by Stockton Storm bought by J Liptrot, Orkney. Local breeders T and M Airey realised 1000gns for a lamb by Ewebank Elite. Buyer was Iain Barbour, Annan. The 27 rams lambs averaged £453.

A Perrinpit sire was responsible for the top price lamb at the annual sale at Stafford conducted by auctioneer Gwilym Richards. Consigned by Tom Harding, Nuneaton, it stood reserve champion and realised 700gns to T Bulmer, Malton, Yorks. Five lambs from this consignment averaged £457. A total of 30 ram lambs averaged £352. &#42
