UK government rules out help for pig farmers

THE Government has ruled out any official assistance for pig farmers.

Jeff Rooker, junior agriculture minister, told the House of Commons agriculture committee, that the industrys problems were due to overproduction in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

Agriculture got £120m of extra aid last month, but the pig industry was not included in the award.
