UKassurance is under scrutiny
THE EU Commissions competition directorate, DGIV, has requested information on a wide range of British farm assurance schemes.
The move follows a hearing last week when competition officials took evidence from the Federation of Small Businesses about its claim that the Assured Combinable Crops Scheme is anti-competitive.
The FSBs agriculture committee chairman, Robert Robertson, would not be drawn on the details of what was discussed, but said the hearing was a helpful and constructive dialogue. And he confirmed that the issue had been widened to encompass other farm assurance schemes.
