US crop protection price pressure hits DuPont

DUPONT has blamed pricing pressures in the US crop protection market, among other things, for a weaker performance in the second quarter.

It reported a 12% drop in earnings to $1 billion (£600m) before non-recurring items. Sales of $11.1bn were flat when adjusted for divested operations.

The US chemicals and life sciences group warned third-quarter earnings would also fall below last years level.
