Valmet ups its power profile with new range

By Andy Moore

VALTRA Valmet is to enter the 160hp plus tractor market for the first time with the launch of four new models – one of which is to be seen at Agritechnica 99.

Crowning the current Mega range which ends at 160hp, the new line-up includes a new breed of tractors with 180, 200, 220 and 260hp engines.

Power is from electronically-controlled 8.4lt Valmet units – driving a four-stage powershift transmission.

Existing electronic features include the computer-controlled HiTech powershift and shuttle which gives the operator a selection of automatic and manual transmission settings.

Particular emphasis, says Valmet, has been placed on the new cab – now constructed with four instead of six posts for improved visibility.

Inside the cab, main machine controls have been grouped together on the seat right arm-rest to enable easier control of the tractor – an idea also designed for the optional reverse drive TwinTrac position. For increased operator comfort and ergonomics, the new range also features a full cab and front axle suspension. Prices are yet to be announced.
