Farmers and contractors gathered at a Northamptonshire farm for a petition rally to urge Defra to overturn the August hedgecutting ban.

Agricultural contractors broke off from busy spraying and grass mowing schedules to attend the event in Corby on Friday (28 March).

Some travelled from as far afield as Essex and Warwick to attend the event, which was organised by Northants hedgecutting contractor Bob Rutt.

Mr Rutt arranged the event to raise awareness of a Farmers Weekly petition, which urges Defra to repeal the August ban. The petition collected almost 2,000 names.
