A farmer is offering a £10,000 reward for information about a suspicious fire on his farm.

A huge blaze tore through a brand new barn at Wallend Farm in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent.

The £300,000 building and hay valued at £150,000 went up in smoke.

SW Attwood and Partners was just putting the finishing touches to the barn as part of a business investment.

Farm owner Stephen Attwood suspects that arsonists could be responsible for starting the fire, although police and fire investigators have been unable to confirm this.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “We were called at 2.17am on 1 August to reports of a large-scale fire at a property in Lower Road, Minster.

“Officers are making enquiries to establish the circumstances around the fire.”

Anyone with information on the fire is urged to call Kent Police on 01795 880 441, quoting reference OPT3, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
