Virus protester ‘crushed police car’

By FWi staff

A FARMWORKER crushed a police car with a 50-tonne earth-moving machine during a foot-and-mouth protest, a court has heard.

Swansea Crown Court was told that PC John Stone was lucky to be alive after his vehicle was crushed by the digger driven by Stephen Morgan, reports The Times.

It is alleged that Mr Morgan went on the rampage at a protest to prevent thousands of sheep carcasses being buried at Stennybridge, near Brecon, Powys.

Mr Morgan, aged 28, of Bronallt, Llandovery, West Wales, admits aggravated vehicle-taking and dangerous driving.

But he denies charges of attempted murder and damaging seven vehicles, endangering the lives of occupants.

The case continues.
