Wal-Mart scales back German plans
By FWi staff
AMERICAN retail group Wal-Mart, which owns Asda in the UK, has scaled back expansion plans in Germany, reports The Times.
Wal-Mart had planned to launch 50 new stores by 2002, but will now open only two German branches this year.
The group is thought to have abandoned its targets for the year after, putting a question mark over its European growth strategy, says The Times.
