Welsh acres still lag
AGRICULTURAL land values in Wales to the year ended Sept 30, 1995, are still below the heights of the late 80s and 1991-1992.
The figures, recently published by the Welsh Office in the annual summary, value all property at £1207/acre compared with £1582/acre for the year 1989-1990.
During the 12-month period deals covered over 34,000 acres in 620 separate transactions. Most of the selling involved single individuals (539) and usually farmers, with nearly 30,000 acres purchased by individuals.
Trading included over 20,500 acres of grade 4 and 5 land and about 10,700 acres of grade 1 land which averaged £1752/acre.
