WEST Mids NFU officials claim beef producers in the region face financial ruin as they wait to slaughter cattle under the 30-month scheme.
Cabinet minister Roger Freeman, was warned of their plight when he visited the region on Wednesday as part of a his fact finding mission to discuss the operation of the scheme with farmers.
John Newell, NFU regional policy adviser, said there was certainly no shortage of facts. Slaughter facilities for over 30-month cattle were far from reasonable.
