Wet and wild year for UK farmers

Farmers in the UK have experienced one of the most difficult years in living memory when it comes to weather extremes.

The year started with talk of drought, but as summer approached the heavens opened and rivers and reservoirs went from being at their lowest ever levels to overflowing.

April to June 2012 was the wettest spring period in the UK for more than 100 years.

June, July and August was the wettest summer in a century and unsettled weather continued into the autumn, giving many farmers a diabolical drilling season.

Farmers Weekly asked farmers to share their experiences and to explain the impact the weather has had on their business this year.
