Wheel-changing made easy

SHUNTING a wheel back and forth to get the holes to line up with the hub studs, will be a familiar problem for many tractor drivers.

Cambs-based Carter Services has developed a wheel-changing device which, it claims, overcomes the problem.

The Wheel Carter comprises a sliding L-shaped cradle, mounted on a wheeled carriage. To shunt a tyre into position, the operator straps the tyre to the cradle, jacks both clear of the ground and pushes the carriage up to the tractor.

"After applying the Wheel Carters brake, the operator can safely leave the tyre while he bars the tractors hub into the right position," says Steven Carter.

Price of the Wheel Carter, which is supplied with a 4t capacity jack, is £875.
