WHICH VARIETYS TOP OF THE CROPS?

The search is on for the countrys favourite cereal variety and you can have your say in deciding which variety wins the prestigious NIAB Cereal Cup, run in association with Reed Farmers Publishing Group.

Readers of farmers weekly, Crops and FWi, as well as members of the NIAB Association, are being asked to name the variety they think is most deserving of top honours. Last year it was Nickersons winter wheat Claire. Which variety will win this year? Its down to you.

The cereal cup is presented to the variety farmers think has contributed most to the profitability of UK arable farming. It aims to reward the most complete variety, with the combination of characters needed to make it a winner on-farm. It may be year-on-year reliability, flexibility in markets, or a unique set of features that make a variety the one for your farm.

Simply select the variety you consider to have contributed the most to improving the profitability of UK farms for each of the crop categories listed on the coupon. You can select one variety for each crop type, or leave some crop types blank if you wish.

Forms completed correctly will be entered in a prize draw for two free memberships of the NIAB Association for a year. All entries must be received by Mon Jan 7, 2002.

Which variety is the farmers favourite? Your vote will help decide which variety seizes the laurels from last years winner – winter wheat Claire
