Wind turbine scoops award for innovation

A wind turbine from small and medium-sized turbine manufacturer, C&F Green Energy, has won the prize for most innovative new product at the Royal Welsh Show.

The Irish company’s CF15 wind turbine was given the Award of Merit for New Innovation because it demonstrated the most potential for improving agriculture in Wales. It was the first time the award had gone to a renewable energy product.

“We have taken megawatt turbine technology and made it accessible and affordable to everyone,” said C&F’s John Flaherty. Full active pitching of blades, active yaw, 24/7 remote monitoring and a unique, efficient generator, were just some of the features the turbine offered, he added.

C&F recently announced the creation of 145 new jobs at its wind turbine factory in Galway, Ireland.
