Winter barley 60-70% done in Shropshire

DAVID ROBERTS, of GO Davis, says 60-70% of the winter barley harvest is completed and they have also seen some wheat samples.

Pearl and Regina have continued to do well. Nitrogen is between 1.22-1.8% with screenings lower than 5%. The specific weight is 70kg/hl for Pearl and 65kg/hl for Regina.

“Yields are average and above. Farmers are fairly happy.”

Rain last night will slow some of the farmers down, but he says most farmers should move into wheat next week.
