Wiseman marches south
THE Financial Times profiles Alan Wiseman, chairman of Robert Wiseman Dairies, who has become one of Scotlands wealthiest and most successful businessmen.
The son of a dairy farmer and milk roundsman, he and his brothers, Robert and Gavin, expanded in a cut-throat market by concentrating on selling milk to supermarkets and buying up rivals.
The company dominates the Scottish market and aims to increase its near 10% of the British market by forging into southern England.
The family own 56% of the company, which floated in 1994, and has a market capitalisation of £178 million.
