Women increase role in farming
WOMEN are playing a bigger part in agriculture, according to a survey of 1000 rural women by the National Farmers Union.
The study shows that hundreds run their own farms and thousands more play a key part in the business.
It also suggests that women are taking up a more high-profile political stance in trying to raise awareness of farmings problems.
The survey found 72% of the women surveyed oversaw accounts, and two-thirds were partners in the farm business.
