Wool collections re-start

By FWi staff

THE Wool Board has announced that wool collection can take place in areas not infected by foot-and-mouth disease.

The new wool season officially started on 1 May, and total clip is expected to be about 15% below the normal figure of approximately 46m kgs.

Producers will be paid in the normal way.

Those whose sheep have been culled should inform the Boards registration department and arrangements will be made to pay the balance part of the payment.

The Board has issued a code of practice for the delivery of wool, as agreed by MAFF, to be implemented alongside the NAAC protocol for shearing.
