A man has been airlifted to hospital from after becoming trapped in a potato grading machine.

The worker – in his mid-30s – was trapped with both legs inside the machine on a farm at Butterwick, Malton, North Yorkshire.

Emergency teams from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended the scene after being contacted by ambulance control.

Crews from Sherburn, Malton and Scarborough were mobilised with an officer.

The emergency team met air ambulance and road ambulance crews at the scene and assisted with the release of the worker using hydraulic cutting equipment.

The man was taken to hospital via air ambulance with bruising to the legs.

The incident was reported at 8.28am on Wednesday (25 November) but the full extent of the injuries sustained were not known at that stage.
