Zeneca profits increase
A BUOYANT agrochemical market in Europe helped Zeneca to increased profits in the first six months of 1995.
The group achieved world-wide sales of £2.53bn and 12% higher profits of £506m. Agrochemicals and seeds accounted for £139m of this from turnover of £957m. Herbicide sales so far this year have shown a 16% rise, while insecticides have gone up 8%. "In the UK the summer aphid invasion has led to strong demand for Aphox," said a spokesman. Fungicide sales have risen 6%, as the mild winter led to early disease pressure. *
