Anglia Free Range Eggs has followed in the footsteps of the Happy Egg Co, KFC and MacDonald hotels by scooping a Good Egg Award from Compassion in World Farming (CIWF).

The award recognises companies across Europe that “are making it their policy to produce and source higher welfare eggs, meat and dairy produce”.

Anglia Free Range Eggs is one of the country’s newest packing businesses, launched by a group of farmers in 2010. It sources free-range eggs from producers local to its plant in Attleborough, Norfolk.

Clair Bullen, responsible for sales and marketing at Anglia Free Range Eggs, said: “We believe that without delivering the very best life for our hens we could not claim to be truly successful as a business.”

Tracy Jones, director of food business at CIWF added it was great to see the packer building animal welfare requirements into its sourcing.

“Higher welfare produce isn’t just the responsibility of the large corporation, but something that can be achieved at all levels.”
