Aviagen appoints welfare and compliance official

Poultry producer Aviagen has appointed Anne-Marie Neeteso to the role of vice-president of welfare and compliance.

Mrs Neeteso comes to the company after working in for the European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders (EFFAB), where as general manager she played a significant role in developing research and the representational roles of the organisation.

Previously during her 20-year career in poultry Mrs Neeteso has represented broiler breeding companies in their discussion with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) over the impact of genetics on the welfare of broilers and broiler breeding.

In this role Mrs Neeteso will ensure all aspects of the company’s farming and breeding programme match the social expectations and legislative requirements with regard to animal welfare and adhere to the ideas of sustainability.

“I am delighted to welcome Anne-Marie to Aviagen. She is well-respected throughout the industry and will help ensure we continue to lead the way in all aspects of animal welfare and sustainability,” said Alfons Koerhuis, chief technical officer for Aviagen Group, responsible for chickens and turkeys.
