One of the perks of working in the media is the opportunities that come along to eat fine food in fine places.

The Forager has recently enjoyed outings to the Savoy on the Strand, the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, and the Burger King at Beaconsfield Services just off the M40.

However, the latest invitation has really roused his interest, if not his appetite.

Fearnley-Whittingstall, Hugh3The Great British Wind Meal is being hosted by free-range chicken stalwart Hugh Fearnely-Whittingstall in Plymouth at the end of the month.

Following a panel discussion about the role of wind in reviving rural businesses, invited guests will then adjourn for what is being described as a “seasonal wind powered lunch” at the River Cottage Canteen.

A starter of organic cauliflower soup, followed by a main of butternut squash and Garstang blue cheese, washed down with local beer, should be enough to get many a wind turbine spinning.
