Normally we rely on The Daily Mail for a large proportion of our Forager posts, but this time The Independent has come up trumps.
According to a piece in yesterday’s edition, a local authority in Abbotsford, Canada has had to apologise after dumping chicken manure, in an attempt to get rid of homeless people.
City managers “created a stink” (geddit?) when they spread the material near a camp occupied by travellers close to a major thoroughfare.
One activist complained that the ploy was a threat to both public health and animal welfare, given ongoing concerns about avian influenza.
A city manager said he was “deeply sorry” and pledged to remove the manure from the site.
