Lion Quality eggs has launched its Eggs Factor competition for 2009, but this time it’s aimed at kids.

Following on from its success in 2008, the competition is open to children aged 7-11 with the aim of getting them cooking with eggs during the Easter school term.

In the next few weeks, the British Egg Information Service will send a six-page brochure to more than 24,000 primary and middle schools. Teachers will be able to enter individual pupils or their entire class.

Children will be required to create an egg recipe for their favourite fictional character or celebrity.

Entries close on 6 May and will be narrowed down to 72 regional finalists. The children will then compete in a series of 12 cook-offs around the UK in June.

The final will take place in London on 6 July.
