Entries open for British Turkey Awards 2012

The 16th annual British Turkey Awards is now open for entries.

The awards are a platform which enables retailers and catering suppliers to showcase their very best turkey products and demonstrate how they have evolved in response to changing consumer demands such as healthy options, everyday meal solutions and good value.

There are nine categories in total – many of them retail focused – ranging from the sought-after Retailer of the Year category to Best Christmas Convenience.

This year there is also a new Best Recipe award for bloggers.

An independent team of judges, made up of three consumers, will taste products which have been shortlisted for judging using a set of detailed criteria covering appearance, quality, flavour, packaging and POS support.

Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony at The Savoy, London on 27 September.

Lorna Cousins, from the British Turkey Federation said: “We hope this year’s awards will be the most exciting yet.

“There is continual development and innovation on-going within the industry, giving consumers the widest choice possible when it comes to this tasty and versatile meat, so we look forward to seeing a varied range of products being entered.”

The closing date for entries is 25 May 2012.
