Northamptonshire-based poultry integrator Faccenda Foods has announced a joint venture with cooked-meat business Dartmouth Foods.

The two have partnered to build a £10m factory in Plymouth, Devon – set to open this summer – which will operate under the Dartmouth Foods brand.

Faccenda said, starting with duck, its cooked-poultry operations would be integrated under the arrangement.

It added the ultimate aim was to become the only UK supplier offering cooked chicken, turkey and duck from its own farming operation.

The partnership built on an existing long-term supply arrangement, according to the two companies.

Nick Obolensky, joint managing director at Dartmouth Foods, said the shorter supply chain that Faccenda could offer provided a “huge advantage” for future growth.

Andy Dawkins, Faccenda’s managing director, added it would enhance its cooked duck offering – a significant segment of the market.

“Working more closely and integrating the cooked operation into the supply chain makes perfect sense,” he said.
