The practicalities of producing high quality poultrymeat will be the central theme of this year’s Poultry Meat Conference, to be held at Stoneleigh Park on the morning of 18 September.


This free-to-attend event has been running in various guises for well over 30 years and is one of the most popular and relevant conferences for poultrymeat producers. This has been reflected in the rising number of delegates, despite the ongoing consolidation and tough economic climate within the sector.


The conference was revamped in 2005 and has since focused on a “back to basics” approach. Its three-core objectives are:



  • To provide a backdrop to the UK operating environment and embracing change

  • To provide positive messages for the future

  • To provide practical advice on how to make things happen.

“The organisers have repositioned the conference to be a very practical and topical event, as well as endeavouring to communicate the key issues facing the chicken industry today in an easy-to-understand way,” said conference chairman John Cessford, of BOCM PAULS.


Topics to be covered include breeding (Graeme Dear of Aviagen), nutrition (Steve Wilson of BOCM PAULS), bird health (Luis Canseco, Elanco), veterinary matters (Phil Hammond, Crowshall Veterinary Services), and “Broiler growing my way”, with David Gibson of Moy Park
