Unloading at Henley-in-Ardens monthly horse sale last weekend. With snow on the ground, entries were fewer than expected. Bidding was brisk and a top price of 980gns was paid for a seven-year-old Irish gelding. With most horses changing hands between 200gns and 600gns, values have fallen compared with a year ago, according to auctioneer Craig Thompson (inset).
