THE BRITISH National Party is looking to garner support in rural areas by focusing on issues such as hunting and agriculture.

Among its list of pledges, should it gain office at the next General Election, it plans to “ensure that the NFU is run by people appointed by the members”.

In response, an NFU spokesman said: “We do not think anybody will seriously think the BNP can represent farmers and the hugely complex issues facing them currently.

“The NFU is a wholly democratic organisation with electoral colleges in place to make sure farmers in all sectors are represented.”
