Four potential new herbicides were demonstrated by Dow AgroSciences at Cereals 2006.
Closest to being commercialised was GF1374, a new and improved version of Starane XL (florasulam + fluroxypyr), said the firm’s James Knight.
“It burns cleavers off a little bit quicker in trials, and also adds in thistles and beefs up mayweed control.”
Further away were three products with activity on grassweeds.
Pre-emergence product WG101 would probably be a mixer partner in cereals and beans, while GF95 and JSD645 both contained new active ingredients, albeit with the same mode of action as existing products.
