SINGLETON‘S, THE Lancs-based cheese-maker, has secured access to both EU and US markets after licensing its novel cholesterol-reducing cheese “Heartily Healthy” to Swiss marketing giant Emmi.
Singleton‘s John Carr said it would open international markets that a small domestic company had little chance of conquering.
Heartily Healthy – which replaces milk fats with Italian wheat germ oil to prevent cholesterol being absorbed in to the bloodstream – had been rebranded for export as BioCol, he said.
“We will enter the USA where health is a major issue and Holland from January next year.
“Further developments depend on national licensing laws, but access to Belgium and Portugal is already in the pipeline.”
