ROBERT WISEMAN Dairies has confirmed that it is cutting its price for raw milk by 0.4p/litre from July 1, but has guaranteed no further decreases until October.

The move brings the price paid to direct suppliers for the firm’s standard litre of milk to 19.73ppl.

Pete Nicholson, Director of Milk Procurement, said: “We indicated to our direct suppliers in April that the weak market for cream at that time was likely to have an impact and we have resisted the need to adjust our price for as long as we possibly could.

“Unfortunately, in spite of the market strengthening a little over the last few weeks, we can no longer sustain our position in relation to that of our competitors.

“Having made this adjustment, we believe that it is important to bring stability to the market, and to this end, regardless of what happens elsewhere our price will be maintained until 1st October 2004.”
