Jacqui Matthews is a Principal Veterinary Parasitologist at Moredun and holds an honorary Professorship at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh. A qualified veterinarian, she has specialised in parasitology for over 20 years. In this time, she has developed an extensive research programme in ruminant nematode vaccine development and in anthelmintic resistance in horse worms. She participates in Continuing Professional Development and Suitably Qualified Person training programmes to promote best practice roundworm control. She is consultant parasitologist to a number of equine charities. Formerly a de facto diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Parasitology, she holds a ministerial appointment as Parasitology Expert on the Veterinary Products Committee. Her current main interests are improved diagnostics for roundworms of ruminants and horses and development of vaccines for sheep roundworms
