Yara, the world’s largest fertiliser producer, has set new season nitrogen prices in France at a rate significantly higher than last year. This may have implications for UK prices, which could be revealed as early as next week.

The French price is for bulk material delivered to a wholesaler and stands at €210 for 33.5% AN, compared to €160 last season. This equates to €225 delivered to French farms in bags.

Stocks in Europe are low, exacerbated by plant shutdowns and the euro has weakened against the dollar making imports expensive.

UK ammonium nitrate is more concentrated at 34.5% and this, together with a euro/sterling exchange rate of 1.17, would mean UK domestic AN at £210/t delivered on farm.
