Erosion the hot topic at Cereals 2005

SOIL EROSION will be a key focus at the Cereals 2005 event near Royston next June 15 + 16, with Allerton Research Trust plots showing the impact of different cultivation techniques.

Cross-compliance protocols mean the topic will be top of mind, it says.

“These plots will help farmers consider their options and achieve a better understanding of the benefits to them in terms of retaining productive topsoil, and to the community from preventing soil erosion and significantly reducing the threat of flooding,” comments Alastair Leake of the Allerton Trust.
