Harvesting wheat on hottest day of the year

Despite harvest being 7-10 days late, milling wheat has defied expectations on some Suffolk farms.

After a variable season, temperatures finally soared on Saturday 18 August, reaching 32 degrees celsius in parts of the county.

Combines made good progress in Polstead, with Solstice milling wheat yielding 10t/ha, coming off the field at 13.5% moisture.
