Nearing the end of wheat harvest
After rain, Clive Brickell is going to see if he can get his combine moving again this afternoon on his farm near New Haven, East Sussex.
“We’ve been cracking on with the wheat – we’ve only got another 16ha (40 acres) of Napier left to do.
“Another week and we’ll crack it on the head – we’re about 85% of the way through the harvest so far.”
Mr Brickell has combined both 60ha (150 acres) of Napier and Xi19 with pleasing results.
According to the yield monitor on the combine, the Napier averaged 7.41 t/ha (3 t/acre) while the Xi19 yielded 8.03 t/ha (3.25 t/acre).
After harvesting wheat, Mr Brickell will quickly move on to the spring barley.
