Branston, the potato packer, put a new premium range in Tesco stores this week, bringing two new varieties to the UK market.

Called Smile and Exquisa, they were chosen for their taste and growing characteristics, and appear under the retailer’s “Finest” brand.

Smile has never been sold commercially before, and Branston has bought the exclusive rights to sell the variety to Tesco.

Seed is still limited, but Branston said it would be multiplied.

Availability will be limited to certain stores.
