Online training set to help farmers identify wheat diseases

Wheat growers can now check and improve their disease identification skills with a free online training course.

The Wheat Disease Identification course, from crop consultants Niab Tag, asks users to identify symptoms for more than 20 key diseases of wheat, through a series of interactive image-led quizzes.

Niab Tag’s Bill Clark helped devise the course and says it will help growers diagnose disease and improve crop management strategies.

“It’s designed to help you identify the main diseases of wheat showing classic and atypical symptoms, alongside non-disease symptoms, for example frost damage that could be confused with diseases,” he says.

The course is suitable for smartphone, tablet and computer users with four Basis points available.
