OSR about average, says Peter

Oilseed rape has performed reasonably well at Peter Holt’s Dean Hill Barn Farms, Salisbury, Wiltshire.

So far he had cut about two-thirds of the Castille, Excalibur and Dimension, which had yielded around 4.3t/ha (1.75t/acre).

“There’s not a lot between them, and the seed looks quite plump,” he said.

Although it was raining today, the remaining rape, which was sprayed off later than the first batch, would not be fit until the middle of the week.

Spring barley was still about a week away, said Mr Holt. “It looks quite good.”

Crop: Oilseed rape
Varieties: Castile, Excalibur and Dimension
Area: 57ha (140 acres)

Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2009/10 variety with very high UK treated yields and a maximum 9 rating for resistance to lodging with and without PGR. Combined with the highest second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, Duxford will continue to help UK growers meet the challenge of producing more grain profitably.
