Oxbridge underway near Kelso
Stuart Fuller-Shapcott near Kelso on the Scottish Borders is looking at starting 140ha of Oxbridge spring barley this afternoon (August 17). He said the crop looks reasonable, although is concerned for the low nitrogen and high screenings in the area.
He has finished 40ha of oilseed rape, with Caracas yielding 4.4t/ha. He is “reasonably happy” with the yield and low screenings considering the drilling conditions last autumn. He said: “Very wet heavy land is not best for drilling oilseed rape.”
- Crop/Variety: Caracas oilseed rape
