Here’s a selection from the past few days:
This moody shot from Sue Morgan from Dorstone Herefordshire shows contractor John Fox cutting Castille OSR with a Lexion 570+Montana for farm manager Shaun Watson at John Davies Farms, Swancote, Bridgnorth, Shropshire on July 30. The crop was yielding 2t/acre at about 8-9% moisture.
Steve Benson Farming Ltd’s new Lexion 600TT with a 35ft header cutting a 100acre field of Retriever winter barley on 20 July. Ryan Hudson who took the picture said the field at Ogbourne St. Andrew near Marlborough in Wiltshire had started to go flat. The moisture was about 14% and the combine registered an average yield of about 7t/ha but a disappointingly low specific weight.
Sam Patrick (aged 14) took this photo on his grandfather’s farm as he waited in the truck being used to escort the combine to the next field. Sam’s grandfather is Lincs-based FW Barometer farmer Tony Reynolds.
John Kennedy of JM and EJ Kennedy combining winter barley, Ballywalter, Co Down, Northern Ireland on 24 July.
Harvesting the semi-dwarf oilsseed rape variety PR45D03 at M&S Doble’s Hurcott Farm, Illminister, Somerset. The crop was coming in at 8.6% moisture. Picture from Mark Doble.
