Riband pleasing in Shropshire

Wheat harvest has been underway for three days for Andrew Crow at Cherrington Manor near Newport, Shropshire.

Riband was yielding 10t/ha at 16% moisture, which he said was much better than last year. The crop was looking very good and he was very pleased with the bushel weight of 75kg/hl.

Feed barley yields suffered from the dry period after flowering, and yielded similar to last year at up to 8.75t/ha.

He added: “It’s all looking very good but it’s a shame the price is not brilliant.”
