David Hinchliffe in Thorne, Yorkshire was frustrated by the stop/start harvest, having been stopped by rain today (August 5).

He said oilseed rape had shown variable results, with 38ha of Canberra yielding 3.5t/ha but up to 4.5t/ha in some areas. He was surprised Astrid yielded 5t/ha because “it didn’t look spectacular”.

Mr Hinchliffe has also made a start on wheat harvest with Cordiale looking particularly promising. The first 8ha of 300ha yielded 10t/ha, which is looking better than last year, but he said it was still early days.
